Nettuno, the Allied Landings in an open-air museum on the 80th anniversary

Dozens of events are planned in the municipality of Nettuno to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Landing of Anzio-Nettuno by the Allies during World War II. Yesterday thousands of students reached the Nettuno Marina harbor for the inauguration of the Armed Forces Village: this is an exhibition area which will present the public with a vast and varied display of Armed Forces means and activities.

In addition to displays of military vehicles and demonstrations of the various activities of the Armed Forces, including the much-loved Lamborghini and the Pullman Azzurro with driving simulator, there will be performances by marching bands from all the Armed Forces, including the fanfare of the Carabinieri Cadet Legion. A Photo Exhibit dedicated to the K Ration, the soldier's meal in action, has also been set up.

An Open-Air Museum was also set up on Le Sirene Beach, with a 1940s-style Base Camp curated by historical reenactors. In addition, plaques recounting the Allied Landing that took place on January 22, 1944 were posted on buildings and streets in Nettuno by framing the QR Code on the plaque from your smartphone. A journey inside the history of the city, in the daily lives of soldiers and Neptunians who were protagonists of the events inherent in the arrival on the coasts of the Allied soldiers, engaged in the liberation of Italy from Nazi-fascism. Fifteen points located throughout the municipal territory, starting from the center of Nettuno, where plate No. 1 was placed, which recounts precisely the night of January 22, 1944 and the moment when the 3rd Infantry Division commanded by General Lucian K. Truscott landed.

An event in which, remembering the liberation of Italy is intended to emphasize the importance of concepts such as freedom, democracy, and peace.
