Italy mourns with the USA on the passing of Lenny Randle, heralded by Rolling Stone as “The Most Entertaining Man in Baseball," who died in Murrieta, California on December 29, 2024. Having landed in Nettuno in 1983 after a 12-year career in MLB with 1138 games under his belt, Lenny Randle left his mark on Italian baseball because of his talent and his charm, proving to be a champion on and off the diamond.
In 1995 he said, “Playing baseball in Italy was like finding the fountain of youth. Guys go over there and learn how to relax and enjoy the game. It’s easy, because there’s no stress." Beloved by all the people of Nettuno, with whom he maintained a close bond even after returning to the USA, Randle collected record numbers in his four years in Italy.
