Oscar Farinetti, creator and founder of Eataly, receives Honorary Degree at AUR graduation ceremony

Oscar Farinetti is one of Italy's most successful and inspiring entrepreneurs. He has founded a business that celebrates and fosters Italian culinary excellence around the entire world, exalting quality, diversity and traditions in a way that no one ever accomplished before. "Today, we are honored" stated Richard Hodges, President of The American University of Rome, at this afternoon's ceremony "to offer your entrepreneurial vision and innovative business model as an example of success and achievement for our students."

Farinetti began his career by working in his father's business, where he became first Board member, then CEO & Chairman. Between 1978 and 2003 he transformed that family business into UniEuro, one of the biggest competitors on the Italian appliance market. As President Hodges noted "The famous UniEuro slogan "Optimism is the spice of life" perfectly sums up your approach to life."
