Here in Italy, we live on an immense cultural heritage, often abandoned and underutilized. It is a treasure made up of thousands of cultural assets that, despite their historical and artistic value, remain in a state of decay. The Italian Ministry of Culture has recently launched a census to map these assets.
Currently, 2,918 locations across Italy have been reported, mostly public properties, but many are also private or mixed ownership. Despite their importance, most of these places need expensive restorations. These assets have been taken away from local communities and represent places of great symbolic and identity value.
