If you think Italian food is all about pasta drowned in sauces or thin crust pizzas overloaded with toppings or Caesar salad, then you are in for a jarring surprise. Most of the Italian food that we eat at QSRs or restaurants are American versions of the real deal. We dispel some of the popular misconceptions about Italian food.
Italian food isn’t creamy and saucy. Italian Chef, Emiliano De Stefano at PREGO, The Westin, Gurgaon, says, “Americans add a lot of cream and sauces to Italian dishes such as pasta, pizza and even salads. In authentic Italian food, the dressing is always light, seasoning is balanced and butter is sparingly used.”
