US Ambassador to Italy, John Phillips, addressed students of The American University of Rome this week by taking part in a lively exchange and debate on contemporary topics affecting relations between the US and Italy.
A lawyer with more than four decades of experience, Mr. Phillips made his name in confronting intractable environmental and corruption issues. He later served in President Obama's first administration as Chairman of the President's Commission on White House Fellowships, and given his long-time love of Italy (and being of Italo-American origin) he was a natural candidate when the position of Ambassador to Italy and San Marino opened in June of 2013.
