"Optimism" is one of the most recurring words among exhibitors at Mido, the world's biggest eyewear fair that opens its 45th edition in Milan today and runs until March 2. The "Made in Italy" eyewear industry turnover reached €3.17 billion in 2014, up 9.4% on 2013, boosted by the highest export revenues in 10 years, up 11.8% at €3.11 billion.
Sunglasses exports grew by 11.7% to €2.06 billion, and frames exports grew by 12% to €974 million. About 94 million eyeglasses were exported in 2014, 61 million sunglasses and 33 million eyeglasses frames.
