Intense, exciting, formative days, those that the Limitless Device team experienced in the United States. An experience in which the Apulian start-up presented itself as an ambassador of Italian Excellence in the field of sustainable mobility, after winning the call "LoveITDetroit - The Perfect Pitch ” in Rome, promoted by Reputation Research in collaboration with the Consulate of Italy in Detroit, RetImpresa-Confindustria, We The Italians and the institutional partner Giovani Imprenditori Confindustria.
The idea of Limitless Device was born from the meeting of disability, design, technological innovation, medical research and sustainability, with the aim of designing medical devices based on the real needs of people with disabilities or reduced motor functions.
Every step of Limitless in the States was taken together with Allegra Baistrocchi, Consul of Italy in Detroit, since the first day, marked by pitches and events before investors and stakeholders, and the pleasant meeting with the Head of Fiat USA, Aamir Ahmed.
The perfect organization allowed Alessio Sansò and Emanuele Battista, CEO and CTO of Limitless, to carry out training sessions with the other two start-ups ambassadors of made-in-Italy excellence, Novac and Arlix, and to meet prominent exponents such as Aurora Battaglia, vice president of Comerica Bank, the Director of Bedrock, Kevin Mull, and the deputy governor of Michigan, Garlin Gilchrist II.
Spurred on by the great enthusiasm with which venture capitalists welcomed the revolutionary wheelchair for the disabled that Limitless has in the pipeline and will soon be on the market, Alessio and Emanuele then headed from Detroit to Chicago, where they explored the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, for years the best rehabilitation center in the United States.
The star-studded trip then continued to San Francisco, specifically at Mind the Bridge, a global platform that provides innovation consulting services and products open to companies and startup ecosystems around the world, run by Marco Marinucci.
Valuable insights, such as those of Alessandro Marianantoni, director of M-Accelerator, met in Los Angeles, the last vibrant stop, where Alessio and Emanuele also performed a social experiment: presenting the new Limitless wheelchair on the street, gathering the wow effect of passers-by, children and adults, who appreciated verticality, lightness and above all a cool and fashionable design.
“What has pleasantly surprised me,” said CEO Alessio Sansò, “ is how in the United States an idea is perceived with the value it deserves. Here ideas are received with great enthusiasm, listening without prejudice no matter who you talk to. They offer their know-how to enable you to improve and scale. I am thinking, for example, of Marco Marinucci, who did not hesitate to host us even with a last-minute appointment, to better understand our project."
“Every person we have met along this journey,” added CTO Emanuele Battista, “ has allowed us to grow. We derive so much strength from the feedback from start-up mentors, used to listening to new projects every day, receiving their insights on our project has been a valuable source of inspiration. We return to Italy tired but with a lot of energy that we are ready to pour into the next steps ahead."
