The National Italian American Foundation is the most important organization of Italian Americans which, since the 1970s, from its headquarters in Washington DC, has worked to preserve the interests of a community that potentially numbers over 20 million Americans.

Some call it a “lobby”, to mean a pressure instrument, especially for the business world, but over the years the NIAF has also been leading in promoting culture and helping in education, both with the distribution of millions of dollars in scholarships and grants since its founding and with the organization of important events that highlight those values still preserved by Americans of Italian origin in America.
