With a velvety voice that has spanned generations, Tony Bennett is a true icon of American music. The 89-year-old crooner had his first No. 1 hit 65 years ago with "Because of You," and while his career continued to skyrocket with songs such as "Rags to Riches" and "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," he also managed to keep a contemporary thread as the decades passed.
In the 1990s, Bennett's "MTV Unplugged" session and "Steppin' Out" record found a new generation of appreciation. His two "Duets" albums paired Bennett with singers as diverse as Bono, Paul McCartney, Amy Winehouse and Willie Nelson.
