Baseball legend Yogi Berra departed this world nearly four years ago, but his unique and memorable quips like “It ain’t over til it’s over,” likely will remain in the pop culture lexicon forever. The one-time New York Yankees catcher, who was instrumental in leading his team to 10 World Series Championships, three of which he was named MVP, and appeared in 18 All-Star games, is now going to be the subject of a documentary by award-winning filmmaker Sean Mullin (Amira & Sam, Sadiq).
Fittingly titled It Ain’t Over, the documentary, now in production, will cover Berra’s remarkable life, from his upbringing in a boisterous Italian immigrant family in St. Louis, to his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he was among the American servicemen who stormed the beach at Normandy on D-Day, and later decorated with a Purple Heart for heroism, to his professional baseball career as a catcher, which began with the Yankees in 1946 and continued through the 1963 season.
