Ciao! Italian 'hand speak' to be focus of special MSU event

Luca Vullo, an internationally recognized Italian linguist, is bringing his popular nonverbal communication workshop to Mississippi State. Free and open to all, his Jan. 21 presentation is part of the 2015-16 Distinguished Lecture Series of the classical and modern languages and literatures department. The university's communication department also is a sponsor.

Titled "The Italian Gestures between Stereotypes, Language and Culture," the program begins at 4:30 p.m. in Thompson Hall's Tully Auditorium. His remarks will be accompanied by "The Voice of the Body," a short film he wrote and directed that humorously explains the "peculiar non-verbal code of communication that makes Sicilians (and Italians) famous throughout the world."
