Italian American Museum of Cleveland to celebrate grand opening Oct. 1

Just in time for the Italian American Heritage Month, Northeast Ohio is getting ready to celebrate the grand opening of The Italian American Museum of Cleveland (IAMCLE). The opening exhibit, “Faith, Family, Ambition: The Italian Americans of Northeast Ohio” explores Italian immigration to Northeast Ohio and highlights the many positive contributions Italian Americans have made to the region.

One of the most significant contributions includes the construction of the Guardians of Traffic, whose long-standing history, inspired the new name of the city's baseball team, now known as the "Cleveland Guardians". 'The Guardians', were carved in Little Italy, in large part, by Italian immigrants including sculptor Domenicantonio Mastrangelo. Members of the Mastrangelo family still live in the area today.
