In an emotional ceremony, Corrado "Joe" Manfredi, the Manfredi Auto Group owner who died in March, was remembered on Ebbitts Street in New Dorp Beach, with friends delivering tributes in both Italian and English. Speakers included long-time friends like Mike Pesce, who recalled the days when he and Manfredi, who was born in Mola di Bari, Italy and immigrated to the United States at the age of 14, were young soccer fans.
The Annadale resident, who died of a heart attack at his winter home in Boca Raton, Fla. on March 28, was saluted as "an icon in business, a remarkable man, and someone who did a lot for the Italian-American community on Staten Island."
