A new Italian geographical indication brand is born: its name is Prodotto di Montagna (mountain product). The Italian Minister for Agricultural, Food, Forestry and Tourism Policies, Gian Marco Centinaio, has signed the decree establishing the identifying quality trademark for mountain food products.
“Protecting mountain products – says Centinaio – is a reward for the work of thousands of small and medium-sized companies that contribute to keeping our country’s economy alive. This also means recognizing the social, environmental and touristic value of mountain areas. From now on it will be easier for consumers to recognize and choose authentic Made in Italy food products, always in sight of greater transparency and traceability.
