It was compiled by the leading British travel company, Time Out, which crowned Naples as the winner: here are what Neapolitan dishes are considered iconic and the other cities that won a place in the top 20.

“Food is everything when traveling. A good (or bad) meal can make or break a trip-it's usually one of the things we remember most,” were the words of Grace Beard, editor of Time Out. Apparently when you plan a vacation to Naples you don't run that risk, since it was voted the best eating city in the world.

The ranking was based on the preferences of thousands of city dwellers scattered around the world, who were asked to rate local foods for quality and convenience. The results were clear: the city of Naples seems unrivaled.
