The Lenten season has begun, but in no way does it signal a halt to parades in New Orleans. March is the month when the city honors two popular icons: St. Patrick and St. Joseph. Sometimes, such tributes call for a parade and a preparade party.
The 44th annual Italian American Marching Club's St. Joseph's preparade party will kick off at noon Sunday, March 9, at Piazza d'Italia, at Poydras and Tchoupitoulas streets. The public is welcome to enjoy Italian food, wine and music and to be part of the crowning of Queen Holly Anne Savoie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rusty Savoie, of Covington.
