This season is all about Gianmarco Arletti, and what happened Thursday night in the Holy Cross Prep Academy gym was proof. Arletti’s wide-open 3-pointer just before the buzzer lifted the Lancers to perhaps their biggest win of the year; a 47-46 triumph over Burlington City in their Burlington County Scholastic League Freedom Division contest. Next season could as easily be about Stefano Faloppa.
Like Arletti, he came from Italy to play for the Lancers and, like Arletti, he has the potential to take the next step. For Arletti, it’s the University of Delaware. For Faloppa, who knows? “I think you’ll see a different person next year,” Holy Cross coach John Valore said. “He’ll be a little more experienced, just like Gianmarco — between last year and this year, he’s a whole different basketball player.”
