Il Volo — the pop/operatic (or “popera”) trio featuring the voices of baritone Gianluca Ginoble and tenors Piero Barone and Ignazio Boschetto — pleased a Foxwoods theater crowd in 2017 with tunes from their CD “Notte Magica” such as “Nessun Dorma” and “Mamma.” They return to the resort’s Grand Theater Saturday, Feb. 1, in a tour celebrating 10 years together.
They began in 2009 as individual participants on an Italian TV talent show, where they were spotted by Michele Torpedine, the manager who helped launch the careers of Andrea Bocelli and combined into a trio. They became the first Italian artists to sign a contract with an American record label and their self-titled debut album went platinum.
