Angelo Babbaro will be in good hands when he makes his Las Vegas debut next week. The Sinatra-style singer from Canfield will perform Sept. 21 at the Italian American Club with none other than Jimmy Mulidore and his band. It’s a Youngstown connection, as Mulidore hails from Youngstown’s Brier Hill neighborhood and got his start playing in the city’s jazz clubs in the ’50s.
Mulidore has lived in Vegas since he was 19 and carries a lot of weight there. The jazz legend – he plays sax, flute and clarinet – and band leader has been among the most respected musicians in town for decades. His long career includes an 18-year stint as music director of the Flamingo and Hilton hotels in the 1970s and ’80s, during which he accompanied the greatest singers of the era – including Sinatra.
