Returning in 2016 to the S. 9th Street Italian Market Festival where it was created in 2009, the John Marzano Half Ball Tournament marks its eighth anniversary with a lineup of the city's best players at the city's favorite street game. Play begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 21st. Players will enjoy the competition when they're not sampling the food and entertainment of the S. 9th Street Italian Market Festival.
Proceeds from the event (each team contributes $125) support youth baseball through the "John Marzano Wood Bat Scout League". Founded by Steve Koplove; attorney and friend of John Marzano, and the father of former major leaguer Steve Koplove and current Phillies first round draft pick Kenny Koplove. Enrollment in the Tournament is easy. Print the Registration Form below, and mail or bring it to the Italian Market Visitor Center, 919 S. 9th Street.
