The 75th anniversary of NATO is this year, and to celebrate, various US military display teams and international display teams will be participating in an airshow over the Virginia Beach Oceanfront on Wednesday, Aug. 21. The show is one of several stops for the Italian Air Force’s Freece Tricolori, who are currently on a North American Tour.
This year’s visit is the teams first time in the United States since 1992. The team operates the Aermacchi MB-339-A/PAN, a two-seat fighter-trainer craft. With a total of 10 aircraft as part of the display, the team is the largest aerobatic team in the world. Their display includes nine aircraft flying in formation and one solo aircraft performing loops, rolls and crossing maneuvers.
