A gala celebration of the 75th anniversary of Viva La Panza drew 650 men to Todaro's Party Center in Akron Wednesday evening. Presented by the Italian-American Professional and Businessmen's Club and the House of LaRose, the event is the premier fundraising and networking event of the Italian community.
Ralph Trecaso, who chaired the event along with John Montisano, Lou Berroteran and Ralph Palmisano, said they expected to raise more than $75,000 for college scholarships for students of Italian heritage.
The Rev. Jim Ragnoni gave the invocation before dinner. He was saluted for his years of spiritual guidance to the organization as he officially retired from St. Anthony of Padua Church on North Hill after 39 years.
