A night of Italian/American Poetry will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 6:00 pm in the Sodano Coffee House (D'Angelo Center Third Floor). Presented by The Italian Cultural Center, two writers will be featured: Rachel Guido DeVries and George Guida.
Rachel Guido DeVries is a southern Italian American (Sicilian and Calabrese). Her latest book of poems is The Brother Inside Me, (Guernica, 2008). A new collection of poems, A Woman Unknown in Her Bones, is forthcoming from Bordighera Books in 2014. She is the past recipient of a New York Foundation Artist's Fellowship in fiction. Ms. Guido DeVries is a poet-in-the-schools throughout central and upstate New York, and offers workshops independently.
George Guida is the author of five books, including The Pope Stories and Other Tales of Troubled Times, two collections of poems, New York and Other Lovers and Low Italian, and the novel, Letters from Suburbia. His work has appeared in Alimentum, Barrow Street, Inkwell, Italian Americana, among other journals and anthologies. He teaches English and creative writing in New York City College of Technology, and serves as Poetry editor of 2 Bridges Review and President of the Italian American Studies Association.
