President and CEO Adele Chatfield-Taylor, FAAR'84, will reflect on the history and preservation strategy that were key to the rebuilding of the American Academy in Rome, as she prepares to step down after 25 years at the helm.
Adele Chatfield-Taylor, President and CEO of the American Academy in Rome, is an historic preservationist. She was director of the Design Arts Program at the National Endowment for the Arts from 1984-88, founder and first director of the New York Landmarks Preservation Foundation from 1980-84, and on the staff of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission from 1973-80. Until 1984 she was an adjunct assistant professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Historic Preservation; she has lectured widely on historic preservation, and been a trustee of numerous not-for-profit arts and preservation entities.
