The Neighborhood That Disappeared, to air Friday on WMHT

It has taken more than 50 years, but the silently displaced South End residents pushed out of their homes, businesses and tight-knit Italian-American enclave by Gov. Nelson A. Rockefeller's South Mall government complex are finally having the last word.

"I wanted to give voice to the voiceless," said Mary Paley, the director, writer and executive producer of "The Neighborhood That Disappeared," a documentary that premieres 8 p.m. Friday on WMHT. It will be shown on the big screen for a week starting Saturday at the Madison Theater in Albany's Pine Hills neighborhood.
