Join Friends of the Uffizi Gallery at Conde Contemporary Art Gallery in Coral Gables, Florida for a Reception and Short Presentation- Saturday, June 25, 2016: The Valois Tapestries, Friends of the Uffizi Gallery's Current Restoration Project
Eight sixteenth-century tapestries, collectively known as The Valois Tapestries, represent Catherine de Medici and her family observing courtly festivities. They are among the most important Renaissance tapestries surviving today in the Uffizi Gallery collection. The scenes of fetes, jousts and mock battles, capture the pageantry and excess of the French court from 1564 to 1573. The series of eight precious tapestries woven with wool, silk and silver thread are being restored by Friends of the Uffizi Gallery.
