Tragedy and Passion intersect in Verdi’s hotblooded melodrama. Get set to experience the thrills and chills of this outstanding operatic melodrama at Seattle Opera's latest production of Verdi's Il Trovatore. Regarded as an absolute rollercoaster ride of heightened emotions, jealousy, lust and revenge, the production also depicts some of Verdi's most masterful and memorable solo moments. The grand epic is brought to life by splendid costumes, resplendent set pieces and an ensemble cast of 75 performers that includes American soprano Leah Crocetto and the critically acclaimed tenor Issachah Savage.
Verdi's larger than life score evokes the war strife landscape of Spain during the 1500s. The civil war is at the brink and amidst the shifting fortunes and conflicted loyalties, an old gypsy woman is blamed of bewitching Count di Luna’s youngest child; the woman is burnt to death when the child falls ill.
