An art exhibit. December 17, 2015 to March 6, 2016 - arte italia - 442 Flint Street - Reno, NV 89501. Benny Bufano (c. 1898–1970) was born in San Fele, Italy, spent his childhood in New York, and eventually became one of San Francisco's most colorful characters and renowned artists. A lifelong pacifist, he was deeply inspired by Saint Francis of Assisi—to him, the embodiment of world peace.
Bufano is best known for his modernist sculptures representing peace and his round, playful sculptures of animals, often monumentalized to gigantic proportions. Arte Italia is pleased to present this exhibit featuring a selection of Bufano's sculptures, mosaics, paintings, sketches, and works on paper.
