Rising rents have come to claim another long-running Portland establishment. Martinotti's Cafe & Deli, the 36-year-old Italian store known for its wines, grocery selection and expansive deli case, will close June 30. A clothing store is slated to replace the deli.
"Rent has raised considerably," Martina Martinotti, granddaughter of owner Dixie Martinotti, said. "It's more than what's doable for us which is why we aren't staying."
