Tuscan Sister City Sends Chef to Charlottesville

May 18, 2016 802

Tavola restaurant is excited to partner with the Charlottesville Sister City commission on an exchange of culinary talent between two Italian restaurants: Ristorante il Falcone in the sister city of Poggio a Caiano and tavola restaurant in Charlottesville. Each restaurant will send its chef to the other for one week.

From June 6-11, tavola will host chef and family restaurant matriarch Mrs. Roberta Vivetta Cintelli, who at 70 years old, still leads the kitchen at il Falcone in Tuscany (Poggio a Caiano). Chef Roberta will work in tavola's kitchen, visit area landmarks and meet students. Chef Roberta will be available for a limited number of interviews. Contact [email protected] or 434-227-0109.

June 11 Italian Tasting Event
On Saturday, June 11 tavola's Italian tasting festival (in the spirit of the street fairs of Poggio) will be a tribute to it's sister restaurant in Poggio and feature dishes taught and inspired by Chef Roberta's residency. We will pour out into the street in front of the restaurant and set up tasting stations for a convivial celebration. Tickets are available in advance at https://tavolafestival.eventbrite.com

JULY
In July, tavola Chef Caleb Warr will journey to Poggio a Caiano to cook with Chef Roberta at il Falcone.

This fall, tavola will announce a formal dinner to celebrate the exchange and feature dishes that emerged from the collaboration. The restaurants will interact via social media throughout the process, documenting the experience and encouraging the public to follow along. Customers and community members on both sides of the globe will have a chance to meet and dine with these culinary ambassadors.
