While visiting St. Louis, Bill and I had dinner on The Hill. The Hill is the old Italian neighborhood on the west side, and it feels very much like stepping back in time. There are a dozen or more restaurants, mostly old school red sauce joints, packed with diners at 5:30 and closed by 9 p.m.
We picked Zia's, but we were told they were all pretty good — with dark wood, crowded tables and a menu filled with standards. The neighborhood is made up of modest, well-kept cottages and a few shops that cater to the locals.
