City of Brookfield Mayor Steven Ponto remembers exactly what he ate this September when he visited Portillo's: an Italian beef sandwich, french fries, a small salad — "and it was delicious."
His trip to the iconic Chicago restaurant's Vernon Hills, Ill., location was part of Portillo's play to locate in the city of Brookfield, an interstate pilgrimage the iconic hot dog chain's many Wisconsin fans won't have to make for much longer.
