Torontonians are peppering the culinary landscape here in Hamilton, and though these restaurants do have a big city feel with a funky Steeltown vibe, sometimes you want good, old-fashioned home cooking. Cibo Osteria, just off Main Street East in downtown Grimsby, aims to do just that. We were looking out for it as we made our way down Ontario Street and realized it was, in fact, a house — a big white house with an "open" sign blinking in one window.

The dining room where we sat even reminded my dining companion and me of some of the older houses around Hamilton. Pocket doors were pulled closed on one side, to separate us from the other dining room, and there was an unused fireplace across the room. Just like home!
