A new family-owned Italian restaurant has landed on Grassy Plain Street and is looking to stick around for the long haul. Jason Arcos and his wife Nancy Mejia opened D’Arcos Bar and Restaurant in early April when restaurants were still on a rocky path in Connecticut. The restaurateurs had previously worked at and owned Augies # 1 Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria in Danbury.
Their children started taking over Augies amid the coronavirus pandemic, which led Arcos and Mejia to leave the Danbury location to them and start their own venture in Bethel. “It’s been very hard but we’ve had a lot of support from all these towns,” Arcos said. “And we put a lot of love into it.”
