New Yorkers can beat the heat this summer with sweet treats from three new gelato pop-ups in Lower Manhattan. Chelsea-based L'Arte del Gelato has expanded its artisanal gelato operation to three new neighborhoods at Tribeca's Whole Foods, the Oculus in the Financial District and at the Bowery Market on the outskirts of the East Village, according to a spokeswoman for the company.
The lily pink and white kiosks, hand painted in Italy, will hawk Sicilian-style gelato until October. The carts offer a 10-flavor selection including Tahitian vanilla, milk cream with chocolate chips and pistachio imported from Sicily.
