The invention of radar, an acronym for Radio Detection and Ranging, is a key development in technology with significant military and civilian applications. While radar’s development was a collaborative effort involving many scientists and countries, the foundational work of our very own Guglielmo Marconi played a crucial role in its inception.
Marconi, born in Bologna in 1874, is best known for his pioneering work in long-distance radio transmission and wireless telegraphy. His experiments in the late 19th and early 20th centuries demonstrated that radio waves could be used for communication over vast distances, laying the groundwork for future developments in radio wave technology.
