It's a common dilemma. August frequently brings an embarrassment of riches to gardeners. Perhaps you celebrate National Sneak Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor's Porch Day, every Aug. 8.
So take a look at what's been growing in Don Alonzo's garden in Point Pleasant Beach. Humungous zucchini. Mega-veggies. And not just one or two. A jungle of vines, each yielding zucchini bigger than baseball bats. "The cocozze is out of control," Alonzo says, referring to the zucchini, and any self-respecting New Jerseyan of Italian extraction will know that he pronounces that word like "ga-GOOTS."
