If you can't make a trip to Italy in the foreseeable future, Robert St. John's newest cookbook, "An Italian Palate," might just be the next best thing.
The book, which was released Wednesday by Different Drummer Press, is the culmination of the Hattiesburg restaurateur's 10-week journey through the country with his wife and two children. During the trip, St. John and his family visited some of the country's finest restaurants — and kitchens of new-found friends — picking up new culinary techniques and recipes along the way.
With "An Italian Palate," St. John gives readers something they haven't seen from him before — although this is St. John's ninth book, it's his first to feature Italian cuisine. The book includes 119 dishes ranging from pizza to eggplant parmesan to desserts.
