The food sector is one of the most energy intensive in the modern economy, and thus a significant contributor to global warming. What kind of practices are already activated in this sector that help fight climate change? This fifth part of the Critical Made in Italy Series titled "Environment and Nutrition" (Thur Sept. 26 SBUS Lecture Hall 101 6:30-8:30PM, MSu 1 Normal Ave, Montclair, NJ 07043) explores the case of farms, companies, and towns in Sicily and New Jersey whose sustainable approach to food production, distribution and consumption provides interesting stories about environmental protection.

The panel discussion includes presentations by Dr. Maurizio Cellura (University of Palermo, Italy) and Wayne DeFeo (DeFeo Associates Environmental Consulting, NJ). It will be moderated by Teresa Fiore (Inserra Chair), with remarks by Jorge Lorenzo Trueba (Earth and Environmental Studies). Join us for a free event open to the public.
