I've driven past the nondescript commercial building at 8421 University Blvd. in Clive hundreds of times before noticing the Italian flags flanking A Taste of Italy there. Having a special place in my stomach for Italian meats, I knew I needed to put the Italian grocery and deli on my list for lunch — and I'm so glad I did. The small deli counter at A Taste of Italy will now be on regular rotation for a quick, inexpensive and filling meal.
Todd Ferin has owned the grocery and deli in the University Boulevard strip center for 22 years. The back corner has a meat counter where you can order specialty sandwiches and sides, and also per-pound orders of deli meats, such as capicola, salami and turkey, and cheeses, such as Gorgonzola, fontina and fresh mozzarella.
