Growing up, Lyndhurst resident Nick Scardigno learned from his father that Italian-Americans aren't like the negative stereotypes portrayed on TV or the movies, but rather share a rich history of art and culture. Now after two years in the making, the Wallington native is close to making his dad's dream come true- unveiling a statue in homage to the patron saint of his hometown in Molfetta, Italy.

Nick Scardigno stands with his clay statue of Saint Conrad of Bavaria, the patron saint of Molfetta, Italy where his father and mother were originally from. The bronzed version will be unveiled on July 14 at Holy Face Monastery in Clifton.
