The Italian American Social Club of Waldwick returned to a tradition that began at Old Saint Luke's Church in HoHoKus, NJ on August 15th of 1922. The last time that the newly restored historic banner was carried in a special procession was in 1962. Members of the original Italian club of Waldwick traversed the streets of Waldwick in its early day from where once stood The Marconi Hall on Bohnert Place in Waldwick to St. Luke's Church in HoHoKus.
The Italian immigrants who came to Waldwick in the early 1900's brought with them beliefs and traditions held in their home towns in Italy. Such annual feasts as the one for The Madonna Dell'Assunta engendered a great sense of comfort and familiarity within Italian-American communities all around America.
