On Sunday, Woodland Park and the Roma Club gathered for the annual raising of the Italian flag to commemorate Columbus Day, marking the event’s ninth year. The event celebrated not only Christopher Columbus but also the rich heritage and contributions of Italian Americans.
The flag-raising was a moment of pride for the community, with attendees reflecting on the significance of honoring their ancestors. “It’s more of an acknowledgment of us than of Columbus,” Chris Valone, of the Roma Club said.
