The 20th anniversary of sisterhood between Perugia and Seattle occurs this year during the 2013 Year of Italian Culture in the US. Twenty years ago, Mayor Mario Valentini of Perugia signed the sisterhood pact in Seattle with then Mayor Norman Rice. In celebration of the anniversary, a delegation from Seattle will visit Perugia this summer. Lucky for them, they'll be able to catch the legendary Umbria Jazz Festival (enjoying its own 40th anniversary this year) before heading back to the Pacific Northwest.
