The Center for Italian and Italian American Culture is offering two Peter Cocoziello Sr. scholarships this year, each in the amount of $2,500. The center administers the scholarship monies annually. The Peter Cocoziello Scholarship Fund was established in 2005 by Peter Cocoziello Sr. to be awarded to a deserving high school senior of Italian or Italian American heritage.
Judging criteria is based upon financial need (50 percent), academic standing (25 percent and 3.5 or higher GPA) and upon a character essay (25 percent). One requirement is that the student completes a five hundred word essay which focuses on the significance of Italian heritage in the student's life, as well as a discussion of personal, educational and professional goals.
