Arriving in the U.S. from the town of Monte di Procida just outside of Naples in 1970, Antonio Durazzo started as a longshoreman in Brooklyn. But not for long. He soon moved to Freehold Township, where he opened his own eatery, Attilio's Restaurant & Pizza, in 1972.
The following year he was joined in the business by his son, Luigi, who eventually took over ownership of the successful pizzeria in 1980 and remained its owner for the next 34 years until his retirement. In a proud rite of passage, the Durazzo family once again turned over the reins of the restaurant – this time to Luigi's son Kevin, 28, who took over as its third-generation owner two years ago.
