Rita's Italian Ice is now open in Lincoln and it's the first store in Nebraska to offer Italian ice custard. The store's franchise is owned by the Malone family from Crete, Nebraska. Mike and Elynn Malone say they tried the store's hallmark item, ice custard in Kansas when they were visiting their daughter and loved the product.
"We went back numerous times to the store and I was skeptical but I thought the ice and the custard were just unlike anything I ever had. The creamy texture and the real fruit...it's thick and rich, better than ice cream in my opinion," said Mike Malone.
