Barilla Switches To 100% Italian Sustainable Wheat

Barilla has committed to the use of 100% Italian sustainable wheat, sourced from 13 different Italian regions, in its products. The pasta maker has selected four exclusive varieties of durum wheat, featuring a high protein content (14% wheat and 13% semolina), high quality gluten, a golden-yellow colour and low ash content (mineral salts).

It said that the geometry of the main pasta shapes has been redesigned, increasing their thickness and diameter, resulting in a 'even more full-bodied pasta with an authentic wheat taste'.
