Barilla, the world's largest pasta producer, has donated more than €2 million to be shared between the Maggiore hospital in Parma, the local civil protection authorities and the Parma Red Cross. The majority of the funds will go towards upgrading and expanding the intensive care unit at the Maggiore hospital as healthcare workers struggle to cope with the Coronavirus emergency.
The rest of the funds will benefit the Protezione Civile and the Parma Red Cross, and will be used to purchase medical and logistic equipment to face the crisis throughout the Parma and Cremona areas. A further donation will go towards buying respiratory equipment for the regional medical hospitals of Emilia Romagna.
